The English Trumpet

This recording features two trumpets of historical importance in an authentic musical context. A fine instrument by William Bull (himself a London trumpeter) made c.1680 is played throughout the suite of pieces by Jeremiah Clarke and an early specimen of the distinctly English "Slide-Trumpet" is played in the vocal items and in Purcell's trumpet Airs.
